Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how ClipSaver ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our Android application. ClipSaver lets you save publicly shared videos from TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter) and Facebook to your device.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information collected automatically
- Device information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and language settings.
- Advertising ID: Google Advertising ID (GAID), collected by our advertising partner (Google AdMob) to show ads and measure ad performance, subject to your consent choices in the app's GDPR/UMP prompt.
1.2 Information you provide
- Downloaded video metadata: Title, source platform, and file size are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us.
- Clipboard content: Read only right after you bring the App to the foreground, solely to detect a supported video link and offer a one-tap download. Clipboard content is processed on-device and is never transmitted to us.
- Links shared from other apps: When you choose ClipSaver from another app's share sheet, or open a supported link with ClipSaver, the App receives that text or link so it can load the page and look for a downloadable video. This text is processed on-device and is never transmitted to us.
- Video files opened from other apps: If you choose ClipSaver as the player for a video file from another app or a file manager, the App reads that file only to play it. It is not copied, catalogued, or uploaded anywhere.
- Feedback: If you choose to send feedback through the App, the content of your message is shared via your device's email client.
1.3 Information we do NOT collect
- We do not require you to log in to TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, or any other account to use the App.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal contact information.
- We do not collect your precise or approximate location.
- We do not access your camera or microphone.
- We do not host or re-distribute any video content — downloads happen directly between your device and the content provider's own servers.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide the service: Detecting shared video links, selecting available quality options, downloading videos, extracting an audio track from a video you downloaded, and managing your local download library (history, recycle bin, batch downloads).
- To run the built-in browser: Loading pages you navigate to, keeping multiple tabs, and remembering your bookmarks and browsing history. Bookmarks and history are stored only on your device.
- To serve advertisements: AdMob displays ads to support the free version of the App. Ad personalisation is subject to your consent preferences managed through the in-app consent screen (Google UMP).
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Permissions We Request
The App may request the following permissions:
- Internet & Network State: Required to browse pages, detect video links, download videos, and serve AdMob ads.
- Storage / media access: To save downloaded videos to your device's gallery (on Android 9 and below) or to your gallery via the Photos/Media API (on Android 10 and above), and to save an extracted audio track to your device's music folder.
- Access to a folder you choose (optional): If you pick your own download folder, Android asks you to grant ClipSaver ongoing read and write access to that folder. This access lasts until you revoke it in your system settings or reset the download location inside the App, and it is used solely to write your downloads there and to manage those files (rename, delete, share). We never read anything else in that folder, and nothing from it is uploaded to us.
- Clipboard read (only right after you bring the App to the foreground): To offer a one-tap download when a supported video link is detected.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (Android 13+): To show download progress and completion status. All notifications are generated locally on your device; none are sent to or from external servers.
- Foreground service: To keep a download running reliably and show its progress while the App is in use.
- Run at startup (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Used only to resume downloads that were still unfinished when your device was switched off. The App does not start itself, show anything, or send any data at boot.
4. Advertising and Consent (GDPR / EEA)
The App uses AdMob (Google) to display advertisements. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and other applicable regions, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request your consent before personalised ads are shown. You may update your consent preferences at any time via the in-app consent settings.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
6. In-App Purchases
The App offers an optional one-time purchase to permanently remove ads. This is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and does not auto-renew. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing; we do not see or store your payment information.
7. Vault (Hidden Videos)
The optional Vault lets you hide videos behind a PIN. Your PIN and security-question answer are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us. Videos moved into the Vault are encrypted with AES-256-GCM using a key held in the Android Keystore (hardware-backed on supported devices) and cannot be decrypted outside your device. If you forget both your PIN and your security-question answer, Vault content cannot be recovered by you or by us.
8. Built-in Browser
8.1 Incognito tabs
Pages you open in an incognito tab are not written to your browsing history, and session cookies created while you browse are cleared when you leave the browser. Your downloads and bookmarks are kept, as they are in a normal tab.
Please note the limit of this feature so you can judge it accurately: Android gives an app a single shared cookie store for its built-in browser, so ClipSaver cannot fully isolate an incognito tab from your normal tabs. Incognito mode is not anonymity — it does not hide your activity from the websites you visit, your network, or your internet provider.
8.2 Ad and tracker blocking
The built-in browser blocks requests to a built-in list of well-known advertising and tracking domains. Blocking is on by default and can be turned off in the App's browser settings. It works by matching the domain of each request against that list; no browsing data leaves your device for this, and we do not record which sites you visit or which requests were blocked.
Two things worth being clear about: blocking may cause parts of some websites to look wrong or stop working, and it applies only to pages loaded inside ClipSaver's own browser — it has no effect on other apps, and it does not affect the AdMob advertisements that ClipSaver itself displays to support the free version.
9. Data Storage and Security
- Downloaded videos, your download library, and app settings are stored locally on your device.
- By default, downloads are saved to your device's gallery. If you choose your own download folder, files are written there instead — including on a removable storage card, if you pick one. Files in a folder you chose may not appear in the system gallery, because the gallery only indexes the standard media folders.
- Sharing a file that lives in your own download folder requires a temporary copy in the App's cache, because Android does not let us pass that folder's access on to another app. These copies are removed automatically and are never uploaded to us.
- We do not operate any servers that store your personal data.
- Third-party services (Google AdMob, Google Play) may store advertising and billing data on their servers according to their respective privacy policies.
10. Data Retention
- Local download records and files are retained on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Advertising data is retained by Google according to its own data retention policies.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data. Since app data is stored locally, you can:
- Delete individual downloads or clear your download history within the App
- Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data
- Update ad consent preferences via the in-app consent settings
- Contact us at the email below with any questions
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Effective date" at the top.
